"These [children] must grow up with a feeling that they have a real home." - Milton S. Hershey

Our Mission

Protect The Hersheys’ Children, Inc. (PHC) is a nonprofit organization seeking comprehensive reform of the Milton Hershey School (MHS) Trust.

With resources totaling over $9 billion, MHS should be saving children’s lives on a different order of magnitude than has been the case, utilizing best practices and led by America’s top child welfare professionals.

But instead, MHS assets have been misused for decades; program development has been stunted; and MHS board non-child agendas have produced inferior leadership.

PHC is committed to ushering in a new MHS dawn. We want MHS to serve children in numbers never before achieved and to deploy assets with maximum benefit for needy children.

PHC’s reform goals include:

  • Ending MHS Board conflicts of interest
  • Barring leadership self-enrichment
  • Stopping misdirection of assets
  • Removing partisan politics from all decisions
  • Ending poor child welfare policies
  • Hiring and promotion of MHS leaders on the basis of merit
  • Creating an MHS Board whose core consists of child welfare professionals
